India creates history in its third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, by making a soft and successful landing on the south polar region of the Moon around 6.03 PM today. Chandrayaan-3 was the third and most recent Indian lunar exploration mission under the Chandrayaan programme of ISRO. It consists of a lander named Vikram and a rover named Pragyan similar to those of the Chandrayaan-2. Its propulsion module acts like an orbiter. The propulsion module carried the lander and rover configuration until the spacecraft attained a 153 × 163 km lunar orbit. The launch of Chandrayaan-3 took place on 14 July 2023, at 2:35 PM IST. ISRO took to Twitter to put out," Chandrayaan-3 Mission: 'India, I reached my destination and you too!' : Chandrayaan-3 Chandrayaan-3 has successfully soft-landed on the moon!
