Cyclonic Storm "Midhili" Weakens, Brings Rain And Wind Warnings For Northeastern Regions

 

The Cyclonic Storm "Midhili" has weakened into a depression over Tripura and adjoining Bangladesh and Mizoram, according to the latest bulletin from the India Meteorological Department. The depression is currently centred near latitude 23.7°N and longitude 91.7°E, about 50 km east-southeast of Agartala and 160 km southwest of Silchar. The cyclonic storm, which has been closely monitored since its development, moved northeastwards with a speed of 10 kmph during the past 6 hours. It is expected to continue its trajectory, weakening further into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area over south Assam and adjoining Mizoram-Tripura in the next 6 hours. Light to moderate rainfall is expected at most places over Nagaland, Manipur, east Assam, and east Arunachal Pradesh on November 18. Light to moderate rainfall at many places is likely in Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya until the morning of November 18th. Squally wind speeds reaching 35-45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, are likely to prevail over the Northeast Bay of Bengal and along the Bangladesh coast until noon on November 18, decreasing thereafter. Strong wind speeds reaching 35-45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, are expected over Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and south Assam until the evening of November 18th. A very rough sea condition is expected to prevail over the Northeast Bay of Bengal and along the Bangladesh coast until noon on November 18th, improving thereafter
