HC orders transfer of Akhil anti-CAA case to regular court for IPC charge hearing

In a significant ruling, the Gauhati High Court has instructed the NIA Special Court to move the case involving Akhil Gogoi and three others to a standard courtroom. The court indicated that there is adequate evidence to support charges under the Indian Penal Code concerning anti-CAA demonstrations but insufficient grounds for charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
